Too much champagne and not enough rugby as two Vets sides played in a Charity game to celebrate Paul Fernsides 60th birthday

Several players looked long and hard for their boots as the club fielded two vets sides as part of the start to the new season.
The game took part after the senior section had held pre season run outs v Didsbury and Crosby.
The vets match was ran to celebrate Paul Fernside’s 60th and was used to help raise funds for The Alzheimer’s Society and Bolton Dementia Support.
The money raised was a staggering £805.68p which will be shared equally between the two charities. The score line was immaterial as the values of rugby and the two charities were the winners.
The black/white team took the honours as they just sneaked home with a last minute try to win 42-41.
The players retreated to the clubhouse for the crucial recovery food of a pie and pint and then boogied the night away to the 70s disco.
Many thanks to all those who donated.
