In beautiful sunshine Avenue Street saw the return to rugby last week with both Juniors and Seniors back down at the club.

Head Coach Richard Rawlinson was delighted with the commitment shown, “the best thing has been that so many of the players have committed to coming back to play for Bolton Rugby and the pleasing elements are their skills and fitness levels haven’t been too badly effected from the forced break. On top of this we have more positive news of new players arriving at the club and last season’s colts have made the transition to senior rugby, all of which puts Bolton Rugby on a good place moving forward.”

Alongside training, Social Rugby kicked off again on Saturday. Danny Joseph Senior Section Vice Chair and Bolton’s version of Louis Rees-Zammit has loved getting back down to the club. “It’s been a really positive start with some excellent skills on show. More importantly, the players have enjoyed being in each other’s company again.”

The success of senior training was followed up on Sunday morning with fantastic numbers including loads of new faces for Junior training. Having worked hard with Junior & Senior Coaches to make sure everything was Covid secure, Director of Rugby Dave Crouch was very happy with the restart. “The enthusiasm from all the players and coaches throughout the club has been amazing. As Richard said it puts Bolton Rugby in a very good place.”

Training continues this week and all new players are welcome at both Junior and Senior training. For more details please get in touch through our Facebook page.
