A joint 1st and 2nd XV trip up to Cumbria awaits Bolton this weekend, visiting Upper Eden and Kendal respectively…

Bolton’s 1st XV make the journey to Kirkby Stephen to face Upper Eden at the infamous Graveyard… This season, they have failed to live up to their namesake until two weeks ago when they secured a bonus point victory over high fliers Aspatria. Since then, they were subjected to a 48-0 drubbing at the hands of Hawcoat Park who appear to be improving week on week.

Upper Eden remain in the danger zone at the bottom of the league table a spot they have managed to avoid for a number of seasons. Bolton on the other hand come into the game on the back of four straight wins since their disappointing performance away at Carlisle. The Cherry and White’s latest win moved them into 5th place and with a game in hand and just 6 points away from league leaders Carlisle and De La Salle. A mid season stag do - something that seems to have become more popular in recent years - does mean Bolton will miss a small handful of regulars, but picking replacements from a second team that has lost only 1 league fixture so far means that Dave Crouch will still be confident that his side can come back with the points.

Carlisle moved top of the league thanks to their 5 point haul against Oldham at weekend. They are currently matched on league points with De La Salle but their superior points difference has seen them top the table, something they will hope to build on when Workington visit them on Saturday. Workington might have finally overcome the 5 point deduction imposed on them at the start of the season, but a trip to the table toppers is the last thing they would want to see. Their only saving grace is that bottom placed Silloth have a home game against Aspatria who are flying high after a home victory in the local derby with Wigton. Whilst Aspatria came unstuck at Upper Eden, there is little likelihood of something similar happening this weekend with Silloth yet to register a win.

Fleetwood must travel to Salford after their loss at home to Bolton. Their strong start to the season, going 7 from 7 was halted rather abruptly at Hawcoat Park and their cause wasn’t helped when Bolton visited. A trip to De La Salle isn’t the ideal fixture to try and get back up and running when De La Salle are honours even at the top of the league. Only Aspatria have managed to get one over the Salfordians so far, Fleetwood will have to be at their very best to become the second team to churn out a victory at Lancaster Road.

With five losses on the bounce and with the wet weather due to make an appearance on Saturday, Trafford MV will not likely be looking forward to the short trip across to Littleborough - a ground known for it’s very own microclimate of nothing but rain. The home side know how to best utilise the conditions and are expected to help themselves to a win and open up a bigger gap between them and the bottom 5 teams which includes Aldwinians who must face Oldham away from home. Oldham also started strongly this season but have failed to pick up a win in their last three outings. After a home win against Boro, Aldwinians might fancy themselves to pick up their first away win of the campaign.

Finally, after their big win over Upper Eden, Hawcoat Park must travel up to the top of Cumbria to take on Wigton at Lowmoor Road, a Ground that the home team haven’t lost at since Bolton visited in April last season. Hawcoat have improved in recent weeks, but a win away at Wigton is a big ask for any side and Wigton will be confident that they can move themselves into the top half of the table before Christmas.
