Good day at the Office

After a rusty start last week, the Bolton boys tore into Rochdale with vigour and style from the outset. Some great cover tackling kept Bolton from the line and the scene for the game was set. Bolton opened the scoring with clean ball to Myles giving him a try out wide which he put under the sticks to the relief of Jake.

Rochdale were stung into action and attacked the Bolton line, moving the wall wide and scoring twice in seven minutes to gain a slender lead 12-7. The game was pretty even and Bolton were denied two tries due to poor attacking options and a lack of communication. The Bolton boys didn't give up and half time came with Rochdale still in the ascendancy. Oliver Carbery took a great hit at the end of the half, winning him the "loose bones" award of the week.

Half time came and a mass substitution brought a few raised eyebrows in the coaching team and on the sideline (you should always trust me chaps .....). On came the new boys and it was a great sight to see them slot into position and calmly await the onslaught. And on it came, wave after wave of Rochdale attacks came and again they scored in the corner, but the Rochdale ten managed to squeeze a great kick over to put them 19-7 in the clear, and the Bolton spirits were flagging. Lewis Picton in the centre made some great ground and took some very hard hits that sent him flying though the air.

Rochdale could sense blood until Josh Padmore decided to wake up and steam done the field (see the picture). Also raised form his slumber, Sean decided to join the game and cut loose amongst the opposition. The boys could sense a revival and both boys combined well to put the Garth over the line.

Close now and a line break from Josh and Sean down the line, Sean showing his sporadic speed burst at the right time for once and Myles nowhere in sight. Well that was until the Rochdale defence stopped Sean in his tracks, and Myles popped up out of nowhere to pull the game back.

Rochdale were now throwing it all at the boys, and they broke left with a large overlap. Jake missed a tap tackle (he swore he caught the wingers ankles) and it all looked doomed.

But anyway Myles cover tackled him, we won the scrum and Tom Platt kicked the ball into the next field to close the game down with a win.
