Bolton U13's v Bury
3rd December 2016
Final score: Bolton 70- 10 Bury
Bolton under 13's were hosting local rivals Bury, a team that they had failed to beat in three fixtures last season. From the off, the home team had their tails up with the very first play resulting in a try by Oliver Keogh, who maintains his extraordinary run of having scored in every game this season. A second try by top scorer Leon Hodson after five minutes secured Bolton's position and Sam McDowell at scrum half began to dictate play with his passing from the scrum and breakdown.
The under 13's are currently blessed with a large group of forwards who get better with each game and Fred Holt-Gregson and Oliver Belle in the second row showed skill and strength throughout, marshalled by the ever excellent Levi Waite at number eight.
The forwards provided a great platform for the backs to shine and by half time, supported by excellent play from George Jackson, among others Hodson and Keogh had added a second try each, with Tyler Maley also getting a brace and Mark Glynn running in a well deserved solo effort as some reward for an industrious performance. Bury had managed a single try in response despite some periods of good pressure.
Despite some injuries in an ever more bruising encounter, the second half was more of the same with recent signing Leo Hope-Barry unlucky not to score, but with Keogh getting two more, Hodson another four tries to bring his tally to six, and Sam Atherton showing his class with a fine try at the death to bring the final score up to fourteen tries for Bolton with two for Bury in reply.
