Bolton under 13's continued their recent great form by completing the season double over Aldwinians with a comfortable win away by 70 points to 5.
The snow began to fall at kick off, but Bolton turned up the heat from the off with top scorer Leon Hodson touching down within two minutes. Bolton then dug deep in defence with a supreme effort from all areas of the team to freeze out a sustained Aldwinians attack over several phases. Bolton then scored through an Oliver Keogh breakaway, whose record of scoring in every game in this season now stretches back almost five months.
Through the first half, a pattern was established with the larger Aldwinians pack winning the majority of the scrums, but then Bolton closing down quickly and capitalising on he space they created. In this way, Sam Atherton powered over before Hodson and Keogh got another each before the half time break.
As the snow got heavier, the second half brought a veritable avalanche of tries with Keogh getting a further four scores, being in the right place to capitalise on a fantastic run from lightning winger Leo-Hope Barry for one of those and drifting wide to be in the right place to follow up Mark Glynn's industrious run to touch over for another.
Hodson bagged his hat trick ten minutes into the second half, before number eight Levi Waite charged down an Aldwinians kick and Ben Price was quickest to the ball to score his opening try of the game.
Not to be outdone, Ed Perris got in on the act with a try of his own before Price scored his second. Bolton's final try came through scrum half Sam McDowell.
After this effort, Bolton could be forgiven for a momentary lapse of concentration which resulted in Aldwinians scoring a well deserved consolation try at the death.
Although the win was correct result the scale of the score line flattered Bolton overall, and yet again, the fast and strong back line up made the very most of the opportunities presented to them and that proved to be the difference between the sides.
And man of the match today was the Aldwinians post match tray baked pie. Spectacularly good...
Final score, Aldwinians 5 Bolton 70
