After an extended Easter break, Bolton were back in action hoping to complete their double in a derby game at long-time rivals Bury. The sun shone on a great game of rugby with both sides playing a full part in a display of smooth passing and controlled aggression.

After only two minutes, Bolton's top scorer Leon Hodson scored the first of his five tries when Oliver Keogh made good ground before link work from Fred Holt Gregson put Hodson in to touch over. The score was doubled on eight minutes when Sam Atherton benefited from another Keogh run and lay off to power over for his eighteenth try of the season. Bury then had a long period of possession which Bolton did well to resist through several phases, before Hodson intercepted a loose pass and ran clear for his second. Bury fought back well from this position, and their pack was dominating in the scrum throughout this part of the match. This paid dividends as they scored twice to bring them within one score of the visitors. It was with some relief for Bolton that Atherton touched over to restore a two try cushion going into half time.

The second half opened with a period of fine defensive rugby with both sides managing to neutralise the opposing attackers and which meant that there was no score for ten minutes of the half. Bolton gradually gained the upper hand, and Hodson's third and fourth tries within a minute of each other sapped the Bury spirit a little. After a brief break for injury, Bolton pressed through four phases of strong forward ruck and maul from props Luke Davies and Ben Malevialle before the ball broke for their number eight, Holt-Gregson to dive for the line and cap another fine performance.

Hodson then ran in his 67th try of an astonishing season (averaging well over three tries per game) before Bury scored a late consolation. Oliver Keogh , having created tries for his teammates and offered huge support throughout the match and was rewarded for his efforts when Mark Glynn laid off to him in the final minute and he was clear to put the final gloss n a great Bolton performance against strong opposition.

Final score, Bolton 45, Bury 15.
