A few last minute cry-offs due to injury didn't help the u13's as for the 3rd week we had to use different pairings but the real problem is the rules of the competition. You are allowed a squad of 22 but you MUST play them all. Heaton Moor turned up with 16 players so had 3 subs whereas Bolton had to get 9 subs on.
After 2 mins Heaton Moor crossed with a break down the right wing whilst the home players tried to work out who was playing where. There was then 10 minutes of very even play until scrum half Jack Good found Fafa Mandumgumana who broke numerous tackles to make it 1-1.
A further try down the right saw HMoor go 2-1 up. As Bolton used some of the 'subs' coming up to half time an individual mistake cost Bolton another try down the right and with under a minute to go Bolton somehow contrived to ship another to see the half time score 1-4.
The second half started as badly when the Moor went in for another after 2 minutes. Like the 1st half there was 10 mins of even play before Daniel McGuiness made it 2-5 with a stunning 1 yard burst. Seventeen minutes in Louie Ramm drove over when a visibly tiring Moor struggled to get out of their own 22.
Bolton then 'emptied the bench' and with most of the 1st choice players back on they battered away at the visitors line. With penalty after penalty conceded HMoor were lucky that the ref didn't produce a yellow for some pretty cynical offenses but after yet another penalty Josh Bentley-Hughes brought the score back to 4-5.
With 3 minutes left and all to play for the Moor changed tactics, elected to kick and found another score with a brilliant solo run from their #7.
Bolton kicked off, stormed down to the visitors end and Daniel repeated his try scoring burst but this time from closer range. The Moor again kicked, Bolton re-gathered and set off for the try line, only for a knock on to spoil all hope of an unlikely come back.
A great game, some superb play by both teams and lots that should be passed over!
