Bolton u13 25 v Sedgley Park u13 45

With some of the walking wounded returning Bolton were able to put out a vaguely recognisable team. There again Sedgley are one of the top teams in the North West, we were still missing 4 'starters' and Harry Connor was injured in the warm up.
Played as a 3 x 20minute match after a pretty even opening Bolton were making good progress up the middle with Daniel McGuiness, Matthew(s) Cooney, Stephenson and Joshua Dickens prominent. Sedgley were penalised for hauling down a maul on their 22, a quickly taken penalty by Jack Good was popped to Loiue Ramm and with Jack's support he went over to open the scoring.
Sedgley replied with tries in the 7th & 11th minute. After another even period of play Jack and Louie decided that 'if it ain't broke...' and a quick tap saw Loiue double his tally. The period ended on a sour note as the referee quite rightly awarded Sedgley a penalty try for a frankly ludicrous trip on their right winger - who fortunately was not injured - and the Bolton player was lucky that the referee only showed a yellow.
Period 2 saw Bolton start a player short and with some of the newer players on Sedgley ran in 4 unanswered tries. Period 3 started the same, 2 quick Sedgley tries took the score out to 10-45. Bolton then put the 'starters' back on, there was the a facsinating 10 minute period where both teams went close but Josh Bentley Hughes broke the deadlock after 14mins. With Sedgley giving a number of penalties away, Jack noticed that Louie was unavailable but found Ben Hammond, who stormed through the Sedgley defence. 2 minutes later the move was repeated but this time Evan Dare picked his way over. With Sedgley clearly on the back foot the final whistle couldn't come soon enough for them, the referee obliged and with a final score of 25-45 both teams gained some satisfaction from an entertaining match.
