Under 10's triumph over Liverpool St Helens and Old Bedians in round robin fixture away.

The Under 10's travelled to Old Bedians for this round robin fixture against mighty Liverpool St Helens and Old Bedians the home side.
Well not all travelled to Old Bedians, some met at Didsbury Toc H to make the short journey up the road to Bedes. Coach Turner got things wrong and was wondering why his team wasn't arriving at the scheduled time and why Toc H were giving him funny looks.
Anyway that sorted out the team arriving to play consisted of James Entwistle, James Preston amd Matthew Moore (Captain) in the forwards. Ben Turner, Alex Ramwell,Josh and Zak Grundy and a welcome new comer from the Under 11's Sam.

With no time for a warm due to the coaches mistake Bolton started against Liverpool St Helens who looked the smarter outfit.
From the kick off Bolton started to boss the game.

There rucking was more superior which meant that the under dogs from Bolton retained the ball for longer periods of the first half.
Driving runs from the two James's and Matty Moore were swiftly followed up by Ben and Alex who had great foraging runs towards the LIv St Helens line. James opened the scoring after several minutes of great rucking and Liverpool knew they were in a game. Last season Liv beat the Bolton side comprehensively and were wondering what was hitting them.

Bolton tackled out of their skin with Alex 'The terrier' Ramwell ripping the ball from the opposition at every occasion. He was rewarded with a try soon after. Sam who was guesting from the u 11's made a great contribution to the game and the Grundy twins never missed a tackle. Josh Grundy went over the whitewash for a try and the final score at full time was 3 v 1 to Bolton. A fantastic win against a strong Liv St Helens side.

Bolton then immediately played the home side Old Bedians which was a mix of u10's and u 11's. They were a much bigger side which had some strong aggressive runners in their team in particular their number 10 who began to spoil Bolton's rucking game. The bigger opposition were making it difficult for Bolton and the constant mauls were wearing the away side down.

Bolton were having to throw at least two players into every tackle and they rose to the occasion. For long periods of time they were camped on their own line seeing off attack after attack.

Bolton soon attacked again.

Matthew Moore broke away from one such attack and scored the first try.

Bolton eventually crumbled and some good interpassing by the opposition led to their irst try.

Bolton never gave up and at half time a few words from their coach about using width and playing towards the spaces started to pay off.
They began to pass the ball wide and were soon near to the opposition try line. A scrum was awarded to Bolton and great work by the forwards won the ball for Ben who sprinted for the try line from scrum half position and made the score 1 v 2 to Bolton.

Ben later missed a chance to make it two after the ball was knocked from his grasp just over the try line. The final score was 1 v 2 to Bolton.
Player of the match trophy went to the whole team and guest Sam.
They were fantastic and the way they are playing as a team and retaining the ball there won't be many teams who will beat them this season.
The Under 10's are looking for several new players to boost their squad so if anyone is interested in playing or knows someone keen on playing then please get in touch via the web site
