Under 10's Match Report Sun 7th Feb 2010

The under 10's travelled the short distance down the M60 to local rivals Eccles. With 8 players available Eccles kindly agreed to lend a player for each half of the match.
Almost immediately it became apparent that Eccles had the advantage over Bolton in size.

Zak Grundy was Captain for the day and a new addition to the side Reece Townsend was making his debut.

Eccles immediately used their extra size and power to their advantage and were ripping the ball from the Bolton players and were starving the Bolton players from possession.

Alex Ramwell was in the thick of things but what little possession Bolton had, was soon pounced upon by 'Blitz' style tackling by Eccles.

Milo Holmes at scrum half was trying to provide good ball to the backs but Eccles spoilt much of it.

Eccles soon turned all their possession into tries and by half time they were three tries to nil up.

Bolton never gave up the battle of the mauls and Ben Turner throwing himself into the mauls without fear. James Entwistle made some great foraging runs but he too was swamped by the bigger Eccles forwards.

Eccles scored further tries using their power houses and fearless tackling by the Grundy twins managed to stop a rout.

Double injuries to Ben Turner firstly his thumb and then his neck, weakened the side further towards the end of the game.

Alex Ramwell scored Bolton's only try of the game with minutes remaining and even he was feeling weary on his run to the line.

Lack of games and belief in themselves were the order of the day.

The whole team battled hard against a strong and well drilled Eccles side.

Alex Ramwell was awarded the trophy for player of the match.

Reece Townsend played well for his debut game.
