Fleetwood prove too strong for Bolton Under 11's

Under strength Bolton Under 11’s were at home to the strong Fleetwood side.
With Matty Moore and Lewis Barnes missing and Reece Townsend returning to the side we could only provide a squad of 9 players.

Thankfully Fleetwood arrived with a squad of 17 players and agreed to lend three players.

Bolton were very slow to start and 1 minute into the game Fleetwood had scored. and converted the try. Slack defending then let the Fleetwood scrum half in at the rear of a scrum and that scrum was converted.

On 20 minutes Bolton were 4 tries to nil down and struggling to stem the flow of Fleetwood attacks.

Strong tackling by Oliver Crompton and Ben Turner started to turn the game.

Alex Ramwell was constantly in the thick of it ably assisted by Milo Holmes playing scrum half, but lack of support at the initial breakdown from the rest of the team allowed the Fleetwood forwards to take control.

A good spell of play saw Ben Turner opening up the score for the home side, which Zak ‘Crossbar’ Grundy converted.

Half time and the score was 7-26.

The teams turned round and Fleetwood came out of the blocks quicker scoring their 5th converted try.

Hard work by the ‘Man of the Match’ Alex Ramwell paid off when he scored his first try of two in a melee close to the Fleetwood try line. Zak managed to bounce the ball off the crossbar but unfortunately it rebounded so remained unconverted.

With the score now at 12-33 could Bolton get back into it?

Strong running by James Preston failed to penetrate the Fleetwood defence.

Josh Grundy made some last minute tackles to keep the Fleetwood attackers at bay.

The effort from the whole Bolton team was tremendous bearing in mind the depleted numbers and the size difference.

Fleetwood went on to score three more tries one of which they failed to convert. Alex Ramwell scored his second try of the game for the home side and Zak managed to hit the crossbar once again however on this occasion it went over.

Uwais Yaumarji making his debut for the team on the wing played the remaining 10 minutes of the game and looks like an excellent prospect.

Final score 19-52 Player of the match went to Alex Ramwell.
