Due to injuries and school exchange trips we were missing a few players
The 15 that travelled were excellent
We started slowly and the opposition scored a fine try.
This was the signal for Bolton to knuckle down and work on the basics.
We gradually got into their 22 and Nathan Stansfield scored from a quick
penalty. 5-7. From a rare passage of loose play Ben smith ran well to
score down the left wing. 10-7.
Attritional play continued. Then came the match highlight, Bolton worked
a series of pick and goes, sucking in defenders and eventually moved
wide, Matthew Ault scored a great try in the far corner.
15-7 at the half. Forward dominated play continued in the 2nd period
with Bolton having more territory. An excellent Rossendale attack ended
in a penalty shot which just went wide. As the match entered its final
phase Bolton stepped up and a forward drive led to Harrison Peak
crashing over. 22-7.
5 minutes of intense defence followed and then in the final minute
Bolton harried their back 3 and Will Doyle scored. 27-7. The final score
in no way reflected how tight and competitive the game was.
Man of the match was awarded to the team as a whole
This result means the team win their pool and will compete in the cup
this year. Well done lads!
