Close fought encounter but Fleetwood march on

Bolton travelled to Fleetwood for the second time in as many months. With a howling wind and Fleetwood's main pitch under water both teams had to make the trip up the road to an off site pitch.
The home team have only had to use this pitch twice all season but it just happens that it was the two games v Bolton.
Bolton had lost to Fleetwood in the last game 17-5 so they knew it was going to be a close encounter.
Bolton lost the toss and Fleetwood chose to play with the wind in the first half. The two teams could not be separated with both teams cancelling out forward runs with excellent tackling. Owen Patel led from the front with Matthew Moore and Abdullah Hussain close behind in the tackling department. Bolton had much of the possession in the first half but with the strong wind they couldn't turn this possession into points. Benjamin Turner playing at 10 was directing matters but powerful runs by both teams were stopped short by excellent tackling. Why Fleetwood didn't use the kicking game to take full advantage of the wind in the first half we will never know. Half time arrived and the game was stalemate at 0-0.
The second half came and Bolton had the wind but for some reason started to lose their grip on the possession of the ball and made several wrong decisions at the penalties awarded. The Bolton backs were getting starved of the ball by the 'foraging' Fleetwood forwards. Bolton supplied one decent ball to Turner at 10 who kicked the ball into space behind the scrambling Fleetwood back line.
Bolton then camped in the Fleetwood 22m area and should have been awarded a five metre scrum after a Fleetwood player touched down in his own in-goal area after a pass back. The referee decided to award Fleetwood with a 22metre drop out which put Bolton back in their own half once again. Lack of ball from the forwards was stifling the Bolton back line. Elvis Majanja was tackling out of his skin on the wing stopping one attack after another from Fleetwood. Bolton's choke tackle was working well led by Tom Crook on the Fleetwood advances. Bolton had opportunities to take 3 points on occasions but their eagerness to get on with the game was clouding their judgement. Fleetwood took the opportunity to score when they spotted poor marking on the left side of a ruck and went over to score a converted try from 10 metres out. 7-0. Bolton pressed hard but in the dying minutes Ben attempted an up and under hoping for it to drop just under the posts but the wind caught it and the ball eventually went dead. Game over.
Bolton battled hard against a well matched side but lack of possession in the second half was their downfall. Players award went to the whole team, most contribution went to Ben Turner and best tackler went to Elvis Majanja.
