After numerous cancellations due to weather, folding opposition and plague of frogs, Bolton finally play a match and secure an excellent victory.

Bolton U15’s banished the demons from England’s World Cup final producing a supreme team display away at Glossop.
Our team showed their intent from the start with a quick free flowing move into the Glossop’s half, culminating with a push over by our pack in the far corner. Patrick Markey emerged with the ball and claimed the score on behalf of his brethren, in his new scrum cap bought en-route.
The Glossop no 10 was the best player of the pitch throughout the match scoring all their 35 points alone, and he introduced himself with a pacey midfield crash ball evading numerous tackles to score under the posts. It was his strength in addition this pace which made our defensive line fight to contain him all match.
Whilst Glossop had a single player, Bolton produced a team display with 6 different scorers who took the glory. The entire team produced great tackles throughout and obtained turnover ball for such a diverse scoring spread from backs and forwards, Dan Gregory (2 tries), Lewis ‘ Shelby’ Howard ( 1 try), Scott Gillibrand(2 tries), Calum McDonald (1 try) and finally Zac Edwards (1try).
The Top tackler award went to Scott Gillibrand, but notable big tackles came from Zach ‘Mr Tap tackle’ Edwards, Jamie ‘cruncher’ Begg, Jack Smith, Leo Proctor, Calum McDonald and Adam Gordon.
Zac Edwards also emulated Pollard or Jonny Wilkinson with a 100% conversion success rate which along with his try won him the ‘most involved’ award.
Physically, Glossop had some big players who did not make any obvious impact on the match such was our strength and technique in the scrum and defensive lines, individuals not mentioned above such as Calum Gordon and Conrad Barry deserve a mention.
We also played with 3 new players making their debut, Tom Robinson, Kian Burns and Jack Smith, settling in immediately and helping with some bit hits in a closely fought midfield.
What was so rewarding was the smiles of the players on the pitch throughput the game, the team maturely led by Lewis Howard (MVP award) have no prima donnas. They work hard together both in training and in matches. The coaching staff deserve a special mention Darren Junior and Senior for the change they have brought to the team, and finally the long-suffering Ian Gordon..he’s held this group together..he’s a happy man and well deservedly so.
Bolton club U15 are always looking for new players to join the team, please contact the club for further information
