The last meeting between these two sides came the week before Bolton's historic play-off victory over Northwich at the end of the 2013/2014 season. It was a one sided affair that ended up with Bolton running out 70-0 winners.
The score, however does not reflect the team that Hawcoat are on their day, they simply caught Bolton on the end of an extremely strong run of results and as a team with a desire to earn their 2nd place. Despite several attempts, Bolton have failed to register a win in Barrow-in-Furness over the last few years and Saturdays fixture will no doubt be a tough one for the Cherry & Whites to overcome.
Hawcoat will also be well rested, following the postponement of their game against De La Salle, who were involved in an unfortunate road traffic accident the weekend before - on behalf of Bolton RUFC we wish all at De La Salle the speediest of recoveries. Therefore both teams go in to the fixture with fresh legs and a desire to make amends for previous results.
Bolton have the added incentive to win, after St Benedicts defeat at the hands of Oldham. This opens the door for Bolton to take top spot if they can continue to pick up points and win their game in hand against Whitehaven.
We're only a month in, but it's already shaping up to be a very competitive season at the top!
