Bolton travelled to Winnington Park for their first league match of the new season.
Bolton started the game by putting a lot of pressure on Winnington particularly in the scrums. They scored their first try in the sixth minute. At a scrum twenty metres from the Winnington line, Ben Cottam picked the ball up and made half a break and fed James Singleton. James put a deft grubber kick through the defence and Josh Holmes sped over to touch it down. Winnington Park came back into the game and scored a penalty in the seventeenth minute. Bolton had their chances to increase their score but just missed out on three occasions. Winnington Park scored three tries and a penalty to finish the first half.

Bolton were not out of the game at the start of the second half and continues to dominate the scrums. In the forty-fourth minute, from a ruck, James Singleton gave a great inside ball to Niall Murphy, who made his way untouched to touch down. Joe Speakman added the conversion. Again, Winnington Park dominated the game and scored two tries in the forty-eighth and fifty-ninth minute. Bolton had a few more chances to add to their tally, but their passing and catching let them down. In the seventh minute; a scum inside the Winnington Park twenty-two led to a try. Joe Speakman made a half break which gave Will Bate the space to score. In final score of the game went to Winnington Park.

Although Winnington Park were well organised they were not worth the points difference. If Bolton had scored all the points that were on offer to them the match would have been a much closer affair.
