The home side mauled well driving Garstang pack back setting out a marker for the rest of the game. Bolton continued in this fashion of forward orientated play early on. Another lineout inside the Garstang 22 allowed Bolton to set up another maul and drive Garstang over their own line giving Ormes the first try of the day, the conversion missed by Barlow.
After the restart Garstang raised their game, winning a penalty inside the Bolton half they opted to kick for posts but missed the target. Bolton now started to build a rhythm with the forwards making lots of yards going forward. The Bolton backs started to see more ball and Jez Rees was breaking tackles giving Bolton great field position. The ball went wide again and Pete Marriott put Murtagh into a gap who stepped the full back scoring under the posts. The conversion added by Tom Price.

The second half started brightly with Bolton continuing to run hard and straight. The hard running from Louis Critchlow rewarded him with a try, conversion missed.
Andy Leigh sniped from the back of a ruck and dived over for another try, the conversion missed. Bolton were in full command of the game and Jez Rees’s strong running earned himself 2 tries. Matthew Parrish got in on the act and got himself a try; powering over from short range.
Garstang caught Bolton napping late on and earned themselves a consolation try under the posts. As the game drew to a close Jez Rees had the chance to get a hat trick but instead of going over he passed to Quegan who got his first try of the season, the conversion kicked by Tom Price.
