Bolton second XV welcomed Broughton to Avenue street on Saturday.

Bolton received kick off and started very brightly with the backs attacking down the left wing before Tom Price kicked through and Jez Rees collected the kick in front of the posts before passing out wide to Murtagh to score in the corner with virtually the first attack of the game.

The try took roughly 30 seconds to score, leading to mumblings on the walk back to the restart that this must be some kind of record - at least for attacking Bolton play!!

Conversion missed by Tom Price.

Broughton had come with a big pack and this showed at the scrum when they constantly kept disrupting Bolton’s ball. Strong running from Matthew Parrish from the base of scrums and Louis Critchlow in the loose was once again giving a good platform for the backs to attack from with Jez Rees consistently making yards in the centre.

Bolton worked the ball wide again for Tom Price to score his first try for the club. Broughton broke down the right wing to score in the corner which was to be their only try of the game. Critchlow scored after the Bolton drove over the Broughton line. Brogan was sent to the bin just on the stroke of half time.

Following the restart Bolton were left with just 13 men on the field. This did not stop Bolton dominating play and attacking out wide. Another Try was added from Matthew Parrish from a penalty move under the posts. Then Bolton worked an overlap down the left wing for Rick Sandbrook to score his first try of the season.

For the regular readers amongst you, you will be aware that Rick Sandbrook is the thinnest of two twins... both of whom are somewhat disadvantaged in the looks department. Rick clearly showed his brethren on Saturday that thinnest is best - a sentiment echoed by fellow slimline player (and weight watchers slimmer of the week) Matthew Parrish.

Conversion missed by Barlow. Jez Rees then went into a gap and was clear to score under the posts, conversion missed by Relph.

With the final play of the game Parrish crashed over under the posts and seemed to get the ball down only for the ref to give a knock on and stop Parrish getting a Hat trick.

Final Score: 42-5
