A tight first half saw Bolton decimate their opposition with dazzling running lines to lead 14 -0 in the opening five minutes.
Bolton continued their attacks led by the mercurial talents of Michael Singh playing at fly half however failed to capitalise on the good work of their pack.
The strangest moment of the match came when the referee disallowed a blatant Bolton try as a spectator was judged to have interfered with the play to allow an unfair advantage to the home team.
Although Vale scored in the dying seconds of the first half to bring the
score back to 14-7, the end result never appeared to be in doubt. Bolton
reemerged after half time with a fire in their soul which saw them run
in a number of well worked tries with the pack being well marshalled by
the returning South African Lloyd Green and the debutante John Stryker.
The Bolton backs were allowed ample space to show their attacking
prowess through Marriot and Plimmer. With Barlow converting the kicks at
goal on a regular basis the final scoreline emphasised just how far
Bolton have moved forward in their pre season efforts.
