A full strength Bolton 4th team hosted local visitors Chorley 2nds. The return of regulars Spencer, Singleton and Parkinson and the addition of 4 Bolton University players meant that with subs on the side everyone was goin to raise their game. From the off Bolton looked the dominant team, but poor hands meant that too many balls were fumbled. As they settled Bolton took charge of the game. A break thru the centre from Kev Spencer was off loaded to Keith Howie who outpaced the Chorley defence to score under the sticks. Simon Clarke added the extras.. Shortly after, continued Bolton pressure saw Spencer again make a break. From the ensuing maul, which was driven over the line, old timer John Singleton emerged clutching the ball and smiling. Ten minutes gone and Bolton lead 12 nil. Resting on their laurels, bolton conceded their advantage and a spell of indiscipline saw Chorley score under the sticks. Bolton lead 12 - 7. Game on. Bolton raised the pace of the game and following nimble footwork by Singleton, youngster Peeder Brogan scurried over in the corner. Half time, Bolton lead 17 - 7.
Half time changes made, Bolton restarted strongly as a long loopy pass from Clarke was almost intercepted by Chorley, but was knocked on into the hands of centre Matt Hurst who strolled over the line. Minutes later Hurst crossed for his second try of the game. As Chorley's try scorer limped off, Bolton slipped into top gear. First, another driven maul saw Mark Robinson emerge with his first try of the season. Then Spencer sauntered over for a well deserved try which Clarke managed to convert. As Chorley crumbled, Mark "Cash in your Attic" Crow ran the length of the pitch to fall and score under the posts. As he got his breath back and was happily drop kicking the conversion, the referee had already abandoned the match due to a neck injury to a Chorley player.
