Finally Bolton wake up, with good ground made by Jack Crompton, but eventually forced into touch. From the line, Preston elect to run it, but good attacking defence traps them on their own line and from the ensuing scrum, Alfie Martin wriggles over the line, 7 - 5.
A Preston transgression allows Bolton add a further penalty, 10 - 5
Preston come back strongly, and a poor fly hack gives the ball to the Preston centre who runs to score, 10 - 12
Mitchell Dwyers makes a superb midfield break and outpaces the defence, but runs out of steam (again) and as he manages to drag himself over the line, the referee adjudges that he has dropped the ball :-(
Poor Bolton defence allows Preston a further try, 10 - 19
After crossing the line twice and being disallowed, Bolton finally get the points as Andy Jolly barges his way over, 15 - 19.
Even the late introduction of evergreen Les Towler, Bolton can't get over the line again and the ref blows the final whistle with Bolton camped on the Preston line.
