Poor tackling then led to an easy try for the Clitheroe skipper. After 15 minutes Bolton woke up and started to play rugby, pushing their way down filed into Clitheroe territory.
Repeated penalty infringements by the visitors allowed a quick tap to be taken and second row Duncan Craigen sped away towards to the line, only to be pulled down a metre short. But as he went down he offloaded to old stager Pete Catherall who went over the line unopposed. Conversion was added. Bolton kept on the pressure and were rewarded soon after when centre Ben Hill went outside the Clitheroe defence to round the winger and then run behind the posts to score his first try for the club. Conversion was added.
Scoring in the second half was opened by a penalty to Clitheroe, but then Bolton upped their game and spent all of the second half, except for about 5 minutes, camped well in the opposition half. The pressure as on, but the Clitheroe defence looked like holding, but then James Gisborn burst thru to score under the posts with the conversion again being added. Shortly afterwards the referee sent the Clitheroe 5 to the sinbin for his repeated off the ball play and a further penalty was added. Winger Jamie Cairns was unlucky to be stopped just short of the line on two occasions as Clitheroe defended bravely. The game was finally put beyond all doubt when Craigen again broke thru the line and outpaced all over 30m to score the final try. Captain Howie added the extras.
