A disappointing day at the office as Bolton leaked 7 tries in a turnaround from last season’s result. Bolton worked hard for their scores, with Mark Higgins crossing for the first after prolonged pressure on the Leigh try-line. Further pressure 10 minutes later told, as the referee awarded a penalty try after repeated infringements by the Leigh defence.
Injured captain Keith Howie summed it up “no embarrassment here, they were a good team”. Errrrmm, he obviously missed Andy Jolley’s drop goal attempt which nearly broke the corner flag and Gaz “Birthday Boy” Flounders penalty kick which went into touch 5 metres behind the penalty mark.
