Bolton 4th 96 vs Carnforth 2nd 0

The pattern for the days was set early on, when a Carnforth clearance was collected by Simon Walsh, he beats 2 players and then releases Ben Hill who races in to score. Andy Jolly added the conversion, 7 - 0.
Within minutes, there's another Bolton break, Eldin Topalovic takes the tackle from the full back, but his offload is knocked on.
Shortly after, it's another break, and Topalovic runs thru beating the tackler to score, 14 - 0.
Next it's the forwards, with Tom Byrne bursting thru and lassing to allow Dec Hampson to finish it off, 12 - 0.
At this point Carnforth were playing with 14 players, so we lent them one of our home for Easter students, Alex Charnock. As this happened, one of their players hobbled off to the sidelines.
Another break by Topalovic for his second and Jolly kicks his 4th of the day, 28 - 0.
Another player is loaned to Carnforth to make up their full 15, thanks Michael Taylor.
Straight from the kick-off and it's a re-run of the firts try, as Walsh collects, beats a couple of players and passes to Hill who scores his second, 35 - 0.
Liam Hampson comes on for Eric Cruice who rushes to his hyperbaric chamber for
From the restart, Sam Kelly collects, and runs deep into the Carnforth half, Bolton keep possession and Hampson drives over for his second, 42 - 0.
More pressure on the Carnforth line and finally Andy Jolly weaves over the line to score and then add the conversion, 49 - 0.
Half time brings a brief respite for Carnforth. Chris Yates comes on at hooker to replace the busy Rory Biggins. Ish Dipoti is told that we don't have a prop replacement so he can't come off. Stuart Macdonald swops with Taylor as the loaned player, and off we go.
A poor clearance kick from Carnforth and Hill collects to run 50m to score, 56 - 0.
From a scrum in the Carnforth 22 and Higgins picks up and powers his way over the line, 61- 0.
Shortly after a penalty tap is taken and Higgins again goes over the line, drops the ball and lands on it. The referee is unsighted and awards the try, 68 - 0.
Good line out ball from Danny Doherty and it's a good backs ball out thru the half backs and the centres releases Hill again and it's a 60m finish, 75 - 0. But that's it for Hill, his legs are worn out and he's replaced by the evergreen Les Towler.
Higgins too is done, but that's thru a lack of fitness rather than any strenuous exertions and Danny Doyle moves to the back row and John Kelly rejoins the fray.
James Kelly collects the ball on the wing and brushes aside the tacklers to score his first try for the club, 82 - 0.
And finally Les Towler collects a loose ball, but is cruelly prevented from scoring by a last gasp defenders tackle, but manages to off load to the onrushing Dec Hampson to score his third, 89 - 0.
Somebody else scored during the afternoon, but i must have missed it !
Final score 96 - 0, with Andy Jolly getting 13 from 14 kicks.
A good run out before next weeks cup semi-final away at unbeaten Dukinfield.
Thanks to Carnforth for fulfilling the fixture, we know they've had a difficult season, but looking forward to future games against them.
