A tough match

Bolton play well but lose out to greater numbers
Sedgely 19 – Bolton 10
This was always going to be a tough match, as, due to injuries, Bolton could only field 12 players, and Sedgley had a squad of 19. Despite this, Bolton played incredibly well from the start, and were determined that they would perform to their best. Sedgely made good early ground, but a crunching tackle by Jonny Wallis stopped them in their tracks, and Bolton soon won the ball back. Some great play saw the ball passed from Jonny Wallis to Morgan Smith, and then Sedgley gave away one of many penalties. From the scrum Bolton ran some good plays, the ball ending up with Nathan Collins who stormed over for a try – 0-5 to Bolton.
Sedgley attacked from the kick off, but Callum Naylor and Jonny Wallis were very strong in defence, and tackled Sedgley out of play. Unfortunately Sedgely won the ball back at the line-out, and were swift to pass the ball out and score a try which they converted, making the score 7-5.
The rest of the first half saw a couple of injuries sustained by Sedgley, and there was a sigh of relief as the whistle was blown for half time.
The second half was just as nail biting. Harvey Banks and Morgan Smith kept driving the ball forward, while Sam Smith and George Lilleywhite were fantastic in both their attacking and defensive play. Bolton were on the attack when Tom Evans passed the ball out to Jamie Currie who spotted the gap and passed to Adam Hackin who ran over the line – 7-10 to Bolton. In the next scrum though, Harvey Banks sustained an injury, and had to leave the field.
Sedgely maintained a very strong attack, and great tackling by Matthew Chowdhury, Matty Baum, George, Sam, Callum and Jonny kept them at bay. However, eventually their extra numbers showed, and they scored 2 tries in quick succession, leaving the score at 19-10. However, Bolton never gave up, and continued to attack with all their energy, and showed some tremendous skill. When the final whistle blew, the referee commended the Bolton lads on their play and their behaviour.
