Senior Colts Can Be Proud of Performance Despite Loss

The visiting team were looking to maintain their league position as the season enters its last few weeks and brought a strong team with enough substitutes to keep the squad on the pitch fresh through rotations.

Bolton pushed strongly to begin with but an early slip up allowed a score by Oldershaw against the run of play. Bolton continued to play their typical strong defensive game and kept out the visitors until the latter stages of the first half when two more scores pushed the half time difference to 0 – 19.

With encouragement from Coaches to carry on with the same hard work in defence and look for the breaks Bolton went out in the second half and continued to hold out the superior numbers and fresh legs from the opposition. Finally the opportunity came through superior discipline and lower penalty count to advance up the pitch and finally get a deserved score from Gaz Farmer.

This seemed to wake Oldershaw up to the fact that despite them being the league leaders Bolton weren’t going to be a roll over and they now pushed hard to try and increase their points difference. The last quarter of the game was hard fought on all fronts but the superior numbers and fresh legs in the visiting team took their advantage as injuries piled up in the home team.

As the final whistle came the score had edged out to 5 – 36 but Bolton’s Snr Colts kept going throughout and maintained better discipline for the most part, so can be proud of the game they played in the circumstances.
