...but at least the 14 remaining could get a game at Ashton under Lyne.
AuL generously offered to loan their only substitute on arrival and so the game could commence with 15-a-side.
From the off Bolton’s continued lack of training showed in the commitment to protecting their ball and they were soon down 12-0. However after a few ‘quiet’ words from the Coaches the latter stages of the second half showed much more promise and resulted in a try from Liam Patient, converted by Liam Hampson. Going into half time with the momentum to make a good game of it at 12-7.
However apart from a few individuals the team struggled to maintain the impetus they had built before the break and so eventually slipped behind by another try to leave the final score at 17 – 7 to AuL. The game did have some good play and the potential to go either way at times, but Bolton under performed and they knew it. There may only be two cup games left now in the 11/12 season for this team to make up for it.
Many thanks to Mike O’Meara and the AuL Team for the loan of a player to make an even game of it.
