Solid Victory for Bolton Senior Colts

With both teams struggling for numbers, but luckily the same numbers, an evenly matched game could be played for once.

AoM took the early the initiative when after a few minutes they took the lead with a try. This seemed to wake up the Bolton Team who then stepped up a gear and pushed the opposition down the pitch. Then from a scrum 15m out No 8 Myles Barber picked up and went himself to score the opening points, converted by Liam Hampson.

Bolton continued with a further score before half time from Tom Swift playing in an unfamiliar Centre role but he broke the line as the defence drifted out to score, again converted, 14-5 HT.

The second half saw AoM try to get back into the game, but after a few penalties were traded either way for a variety of reasons it was Bolton who opened up again with a 70m sprint down the wing from Matty Almond.

This was followed shortly after by his second of the day when Ed Holmes quickly took a tap penalty in the AoM 22yds and shipped the ball out for Almond to cross the line again.

The final try was a solo effort from Scrum Half Sam Kelly when off an AoM scrum he pressurised his opposite number and their 10 into dropping the ball which he then scooped up to dive over the line for Bolton’s final try. Hampson again converting; as he had all afternoon.

Final honours went to AoM who hadn’t given up and pushed Bolton back to spend the last 10 mins of the game camped on the line to finally be rewarded with a try.
