It was wind swept day with constant light rain, and the occasional heavy downpour, the mighty warriors of Bolton Under 16's, gathered at HQ to face the travelling horde from Blackpool.

From the kick off our hero's were under heavy pressure from a strong Blackpool pack. Blackpool where soon in the Bolton 22 after numerous probing attacks, however our hero's dug deep and resisted, but after another probing attack, Blackpool found a gap in the Bolton defensive line and went over for a try, following a successful conversion Bolton found themselves 0-7.

Despite some strong probing runs from Matty Almond, Bolton soon found themselves having to defend again, and again, but the line was breached and Blackpool scored, however the conversion failed to go over, and the score was 0-12.

After some words of wisdom for John Kelly, Bolton re-started with a deep kick which took Bolton deep into the Blackpool half of the pitch, but after some silly mistake's form our heroes, Bolton found themselves, having to defend once again, with play ranging between the Bolton 5 meter and the Blackpool 10 meter lines. Bolton suffered two quick injury's to James Timms (shoulder) and Matty Almond ( Dead Leg) , forced an unplanned team alteration and the long waited appearance of Myles Barber, however as Bolton where getting used to there new positions Blackpool launched a strong counter, Again a series of errors by Bolton allowed Blackpool to score, following the conversion Bolton where 0-19 down at the break.

After some half time encouragement from the D'Managment including the a new addition Declan Hampson, Bolton where ready for the second half. With the re-appearance of James Timms, to bring the team back to 15, Bolton where once again ready for battle, and whatever was in the half time drink bottles seemed to work as our heroes where soon camped in the Blackpool 22. But alas, despite wave after wave of Bolton attacks our heroes could not get the ball over the line. With a penalty given to Bolton some 25 meters from the Blackpool goal line and at an nasty angle , up stepped James Timms and taking the wind into his consideration fired the ball through the sticks. 3-19.

Blackpool restarted and a furious mid field battle soon developed with surging runs from the Bolton pack, however Bolton could not get the ball across the line, then Blackpool broke and sent up a massive up and under and with a Blackpool runner chasing hard for a ball which if bounced right would have left the whole of the Bolton goal area open. Up stepped the captain Eddie Holmes and with surgical position cut his man in half for a try saving tackle, However, Blackpool soon recovered and broke through the lines and scored, but the conversion failed to go over and the score was 3 – 24. With time running out Bolton attacked and with stunning inter-play between the pack and the back row, the ball broke out to the right and with Timms and Barber giving fantastic display of 'give and go' sent Timms over in the corner for Bolton's only score, with the conversion missed. The whistle was blown for a final score of Bolton 8 – Blackpool 24

Man of the Match Josh Kay for his super human work rate, he was at every breakdown and battled hard for every ball
