U16s come up short against a steong Sedgley park outfit

Match Report
Sedgely Park v Bolton Under 16s 22/9/13

Bolton took a squad of 18 players to a warm and dry Sedgely Park on Sunday for what was always going to be a challenging match.
For whatever reason the lads simply did not look as sharp as they have in recent weeks, was it too many late nights, a reduced number available to play? The reason wasn’t clear but it was to prove an issue.
This was also the first game for the lads in their new full strip with all matching shirts, shorts and socks, and what a great sight they were resplendent in shiny new full kit.
The game started late but nobody was complaining enjoying the September sunshine and simply slowly taking layers off as the morning wore on and wishing they had packed the sun tan cream as well as the waterproofs.
Straight from the kick off Sedgely were on the attack driving the Bolton squad back towards their own line with some excellent passing and fast ball skills. Bolton had to tackle like their lives depended on it simply to stop the rampaging Tigers, and for 15 minutes or so they did. But eventually the strength of the Sedgely team play brought them the first score crashing over the whitewash.
The Bolton lads fought for every loose ball, worked hard in the scrums and line outs, tackled hard but it was simply not going to be their day.
The final score of 35-0 did not reflect the effort the lads put in and in times past it could have been a much higher defeat but the lads did not let their determination waiver, they were simply outplayed by a stronger squad.
Key performances came from man of the match (and perhaps the find of the year) Ben Thornley who simply ran his heart out and tackled anything not wearing a Bolton shirt.
Parents award was split between Will B and Tom Mac
