Bolton travelled to Marple to play a combined Marple/Glossop team looking for a win prior to their home league match next week v local rivals Bury.
Bolton started strongly gaining most of the possession which led to debut try from Kane Lyons. The try was unconverted which seemed to be the pattern throughout the game.
Kane received the ball at outside centre after good forward play and with a burst of speed ran in for his first try at the Club.
Then there came 10 minutes of good pressure from the home side but attack after attack towards the Bolton line was repelled by great defensive work and superb tackling, in particular by Joe Fraser-Taylor.
Both coaches were pleased with the progress of Bolton's defensive work which they have been working on for the past several weeks.
After repelling Marple, Bolton took hold of the game and great forward play driving up the middle of the pitch, led to Morgan Skeels-Caldwell going over for his first try of the morning. Strong running from Matthew Moore at second row and Abdullah Hussein was putting the home team on the back foot with Milo Holmes marshalling things at scrum half.
The tacky, sticky conditions were not conducive to flowing back play, and at half time the score was two scores to nil for the away team.
Bolton started the second half where they left off taking the ball to Marple. What ball Marple did get in the backs Bolton's defence held strong with Morgan chasing everything down playing at number 8.
Changes at half time saw James McDowell coming on at 9 with Harry Dawber changing with Dylan Harney at prop. Milo moved to inside centre replacing Kier Kernick.
Bolton continued in the same vein dominating the breakdown and turning the ball over using the choke tackle to good effect. All this pressure paid off with Milo Holmes going over for his first of two deserved tries. Unfortunately neither kicker had their 'kicking boots' on and were unable to convert the tries.
Marple battled hard and never gave up but we're not able to cross the Bolton whitewash until a kick over the top by their number 15 was not collected by any Bolton player and the full back pounced on the ball and ran in for an easy try under the Bolton posts.
The only chink in Bolton's armour all morning.
Two further tries by Morgan Skeels-Caldwell and another by Bolton School colleague Milo Holmes sealed a well deserved victory for Bolton and the final score was 7 v 30 to Bolton.
