The under 12's took on Eccles and Sedgeley Park in a three way tournament on the first team pitch at Sedgeley Park this morning. The opening match was a gloriously one sided affair, with the home side's defence not being strong enough to resist the twin strike force of Leon Hodgson and Oliver Keogh who ran in four and three tries respectively building on great work from George Jackson and Ben Price . Tyler Maley ran in a further try to result in a very healthy 8-1 win.
The second match against old rivals Eccles was a different prospect as their well drilled physical approach tested the Bolton defence. The Bolton forward pack was magnificent, breaking down attack after attack and holding the ball up to prevent two tries. Luke Davies and Connor Whittle along with James Hopkinson and Cameron Halliday were rock-like in the ruck and won ball well in the breakdown. Leon Hodson added to his tally for the day and Sam MacDowell showed sharp intelligence in diving on to a loose ball to score, but unfortunately , despite a display good enough to win, Bolton went down by 4 tries to 2. The season's efforts are beginning to pay dividends for the under 12's.
