Final Score Sedgeley Park 27 Bolton 5

Bolton travelled to our old rivals Sedgeley Park with a full squad; we haven’t played them for a while so excitement was in the air.

After a good warm up session and instructions from the referee, the game started with Sedgeley winning the toss and kicking to pin Bolton in our half for a good 10 mins, but we responded with some great forward work from Louis Townsend and Jakub Thornley, Bolton continued dominating the scrums, line outs and loose play by Bhavik Raghu and Liam Austin, all making the difference, unfortunately we were caught out by some great back play from our opposition which lead to them to drive forward , Bolton wouldn’t let them past and Joseph Kusnyer had some great runs with the ball and Morgan Tobias supported Bolton’s defence, however Sedgelely had a great push forward, leading to a very controversial try, as the ref didn’t see the ball held up, but gave the try anyway .

2nd try for Sedgeley soon followed but with a decision again questioned as the referee wasn’t on hand to see the knock on before he gave the try,

Bolton continued to play a great game of rugby, and put their all into it, Sedgelely’s number 14 got hold of the ball and made a massive run to our line, we continued to try and stop however great passes and forward moves gave them their 3rd try.

Bolton kept their heads high despite the decision that had been made and continued to push forward, some great moves followed by, Tom Rotherham, and good control by Jake Orchard, Bolton carried on to push being the stronger team and keeping Sedgeley on their toes, Danny Naughton causing problems for the back line, with support from Harry Stockton surely it was only a matter of time?

Half time score Sedgeley Park 15 Bolton 0

Second half commenced with great ball work, and passes from Bolton’s Ryan Openshaw, excellent runs from Kris Sinker and Jack Robinson, helping the backs providing his best kicks George Smith was on hand, however Sedgley got a lucky break which turned our side running to our line to protect, but with some badly missed tackles by us, Sedgeley got their 4th try.

Jakub Thornley was in the correct position to receive the kick after Sedgeleys try and ran 25 yards to set up a rolling maul in which Cameron Barber and David Davenport worked together providing the opportunity for Kris Sinker, which he took this chance of getting Bolton’s first try and did with fantastic effort, William Lomax stepped up to take the kick, but unfortunately not converting.

After some more controversial decisions by the referee, for both sides, Bolton kept their heads held high and more great tackles for Bolton followed from Connor Smyth, the final score didn’t reflect the game, as Bolton played one of the best games of the season, and Sedgeley Park saw a different Bolton team to which they have played in the past.
