Bolton Travelled to Southport with a full coach of players and supporters who were up for a fantastic day of rugby on glorious Sunday morning.

Kick off was at 12noon and Bolton were up for a great game of rugby. Widnes kicked off the game at a flying pace and with their fast winger grabbing the ball and hitting the white wash, Bolton were down by 2 tries within 5mins. Bolton kept their heads and pinned Widnes in their 22 for what seemed a life time with Karl Fullen and Louis Townsend disposing Widnes players away from the ball, but we could not get over the line.

George Smith controlled the backs well, but Widnes took advantage of a drop ball and got their 3rd try. Half time Bolton was 19 down.

The lads came back bigger and stronger in the second half, and totally out played Widnes in all areas, Tom Rotherham and Liam Austen providing excellent defence moves in which Bolton gained a penalty which allowed Karl Fullen to plough forward for Bolton’s try. You could almost hear the cheers back in Bolton from supporters as Bolton finally got their due reward. The conversion was kicked by William Lomax. The score did not reflect the hard work and team spirit in which Bolton played in their first ever vase final. Full time score Widnes 26 Bolton 7.

A massive thank you to all parents for all your hard work and continued support, Boys what an achievement you all should be very proud.
