Bolton show pride in adversity.

Bolton took on Blackburn in the first of the Blacksticks Blue League games of the season with a mountain to climb after a good old fashioned drubbing two weeks ago. For the first 10 minutes the hard work by all the players and coaches looked to have paid off as the Bolton lads defended like lions and rucked and mauled as we all know they can. However, a home try knocked the lads’ confidence and when a second followed heads unfortunately started to go down and Blackburn were soon out of sight. It wasn’t all doom and gloom as Chris Kehoe, Firth Lord and Max Lohan were exceptional throughout, each and every player made a positive contribution and Morgan Tobias and Declan Smith showed promise on their debuts.

Ryan McClusky made some great breaks during the game and Josh Holmes once again worked himself to a standstill while Nat Hill and Wills McCambridge made some telling contributions and Adam Kazmi showed determination and drive. It was great to see Danny Turner battling back after injury and his partnerships with James Hind and Michael Latham in the centre had the home side’s strong running backs constantly doubling back looking for space.

Also, in the last 10 minutes the lads dug deep, rediscovered their mojo and played some great rugby once more. It’s all there guys all you need to do now is believe in yourselves and make it happen for the whole game.

Can EVERYONE be available on Wednesday for training so we can work hard on the areas the lads identified as requiring improvement? We’ll see you in the club at 6:20 for a chat and then it’s out on the paddock to put theory into practice.
