Bolton Amazon Girls U14’s took a squad to the TryIt rugby 7’s tournament at Aspull on Sunday. The team played 4 games in total and came away with three wins out of four losing in the semi final to a strong running Littleborough team.

Their first game was against a strong Egremont team from Cumbria who had made the trip down with two teams. Bolton won that game 12-7 with Eleanor Shawcross crossing the line to win the game and was interviewed on a live feed after the match.

Next up was Trafford MV and again Bolton were too strong for their opponents winning the game by 19-5.

Bolton faced a Burnley team in the next stage of the pool and ran out winners 45-0.

Their final game was against top of Pool B which was Littleborough who had won their previous three games. This was classed as a semi final but should really have been the final of the U14’s matches. Littleborough took the spoils with three tries in the second half after a half time score of 0-0.

Bolton had played some excellent flowing rugby throughout the tournament with champagne rugby at times keeping the ball alive.

An excellent end to a fantastic season.
