Coronavirus Update
Following RFU and Government advice the Board and Executive Committee of Bolton RUFC Ltd have closed the Club for the foreseeable future.
With no bar sales or room hire, and the loss of a major fundraiser, the annual Sportsman’s Dinner, we have implemented an action plan to mitigate this loss of revenue and tried to minimise all expenditure.
Numerous services not currently required, such as gas, water, trade waste, cleaning, SKY TV, etc. have been switched off or suspended to minimise costs.
Electricity however will continue to be required to operate security lighting, alarm systems, and CCTV as usual.
We have applied to the HMRC Coronavirus Job Retention scheme which has enabled us to furlough our PAYE employee whilst continuing their regular payment.
There are several fixed costs such as ground rent, telecoms, licenses, insurance, etc. which we will continue to incur.
The annual major grounds maintenance work will go ahead, earlier then planned, to continue our commitment to pitch improvements, and essential maintenance and monitoring of the premises will continue to be carried out where necessary, whilst observing the recent advice on movement and social distancing, at all times.
The good news is we applied for, and have been allocated, a Business Rates Support Grant which will help offset these costs during this period of significantly reduced income.
Over the years, our prudent financial planning has provided a reserve fund for business interruption, which will, if required, also help keep us afloat in this hopefully short period.
Everything that can be done will be done to ensure that the Club is as ready as it can be to reopen when conditions permit and planning for the 2020/21 season has already began.

Club in Lockdown
Fortress Avenue Street would normally refer to our club’s proud home record against wannabe opponents but during these troubled times the vanguard extends to everyone including the Bolton Rugby Family.
There is a lot of unanswered questions at the moment but three things are certain when it relates to the club:
1. The club has a strong financial foundation so the future of rugby in Bolton is very much here to stay.
2. When we are able to return the facilities and infrastructure will be in first class condition
3. The committee, coaches and volunteers are using the “spare” time to ensure we hit the deck running with a first class offer for minis, juniors and seniors.
I would like to thank everyone involved in the U11’s team who made the incredible “pass the loo roll video” this went viral and even appeared on the RFU’s news updates.
So, on behalf of Bolton Rugby Club, stay safe, stay well and stay fit.
Best Wishes
