On Saturday 28th June, Bolton Rugby Mammoths made the trip to Ormskirk RUFC as part of their Vets & Beer Festival club day. Forgoing watching the Lions game and a bacon & egg barm at their home ground, 13 intrepid players arrived hoping for the promised support from other teams to make up three 15-a-side games in a round robin with; Ormskirk, Wigan & Congleton Vets teams.
All games were played in the true spirit of veteran rugby. Support was given to make up for the Mammoth’s player shortage and the inevitable couple of injuries. Bolton winning two out of three of the short format but fully contested games.
A fantastic day and great event, something to get annually in the Vets calendar.

A bonus for the birthday of club stalwart John Singleton who relaxed in the sun with a beer watching his three lads shine for the Mammoths as well!
