It was all smiles at Avenue Street last night for the battle of the Valkyries.
A lovely spring evening brought out a great crowd to watch the first ever Bolton Valkyries touch rugby competitive fixture.
Huge thanks to Mark at Ashton for refereeing and to all the Ashton players for coming over to Bolton and making this a brilliant occasion.
The game ebbed and flowed all evening with some great rugby from both sides. Brilliant defensive work from the teams kept this game tight and led by skipper Erica Parr, Bolton just edged the scoreline towards the end.
The second half of the evening saw a mixing of the teams to carry on playing. Every single player on the pitch put a shift in and the camaraderie between both teams was the real winner.
Then the fun carried on back in the clubhouse with all the players earning their post-match food and drink and huge thanks go out to Kerry, Leanne, Liv, Carlisse and Steph for making this happen.
Big shout out to the grounds team for ensuring a pristine pitch for such a momentous occasion.
Getting Women’s competitive rugby back at the club was a landmark moment last night and the start of something very special, the Valkyries did the club proud ?
