Another good turn out for the little 'uns with 17 players turning up on a bright Sunday in Bury.

As a result we were able to field two teams.
The U8's (well really the more experienced players), and the U7's (or
the new recruits and little ones).

The 7's started first and were up against a team which appeared to be
much bigger. Ben, our resident whippet, soon settled the nerves by
scoring a magical first try which set the scene for the rest of the
game. Throughout the first half the 7's kept their discipline well and
defended superbly with some excellent tagging often resulting in a
turnover. With the ball the passing was excellent aided by very good
support play and handling. It was pleaseing to see that there was not a
single knock on, forward pass, offside or run into touch the whole game.
At the final whistle Bolton won the game by a clear two tries which was
thoroughly deserved. Man of the match was given to Waylan, the smallest
on the team for his brilliant attitude to the match and a couple of good
runs.

The 8's were also against a team which appeared bigger, and from the
start it was made clear that htey had a couple of fast ones. Toby
scored the first try of the match, as he usually does, from the off,
with Will running another one in straight away after some good defence
resulted in a turn over. The rest of the match followed a similar vein
to the 7's with stubbrn defence, good passing, excellent support and
direct running. All players gave it their all on a large pitch and the
victory was once again well deserved. Once again there was not a single
knock on, forward pass, offside or run into touch the whole game. The
man of thematch award could have been given to anyone of the 8 players,
but it was awarded to Sam for quietly and efficiently getting on with
the job in hand and doing what he needed to do very well.

Both teams, Bury included, showed excellent spirit, never gave up and
played the game as it should be. They were a pleasure to watch, a
feeling echoed by the parents.

Once again, well done to both our mini teams. They are both on fire at
the moment and, if they keep on applying what they have learned in
training, the season is looking like it is going to be a good one. Top
performance chaps, you made your coaches very proud of you today.
