Heaton Moor arrived with only 10 players but kindly agreed to play two games against mixed ability Bolton teams.
From the first game it was obvious that Heaton Moor were larger and more
experienced than most of our players and had a couple of useful players
who stood out for them. Despite this, both teams put in spirted and
committed performance with several of the young Bolton players punching
well above their weight and competing admirably. Our "senior" players
who were split between the two teams guided the less experienced team
members well leading by example and encouraging through some excellent
running and tagging. Well played to all of them, you know who you are.
Due to the splitting of the teams it was obvious that both teams were
vulnerable against the couple of larger and faster players Heaton Moor
fielded however none of the smaller Bolton players were found wanting
and gave it their all in poor weather conditions on a very wet pitch.
Man of the match trophies were awared to Jacob in the first game and
Nathan in the second game. Both players are relatively inexperienced
but showed great character and commitment during their respective games.
Both players tagged well and had a couple of really good runs with the
ball. Well done both of you.
As usual the MOM award could have been presented to any of the Bolton
players. Well done to all of you, you were a credit to the game.
