Boliton U9’s hosted Rossendale at a Bitterly Cold Avenue Street Today.
Coaches agreeing to play 10 a side, to save the lads from getting colder than they already where.
First 10 minutes saw some good passing and strong tackling from both teams, with neither side being able to break down each other. Finally Bolton made the breakthrough with a long range effort from Liam Worswick Bolton quickly doubled their lead from another long range try from Drew Armistead. Rossendale managed to claw one back, capitalising on a mistake from Bolton.
Half time 2 - 1
Half time saw unforced errors creeping in from both teams, possibly due to the cold. 2 tries from Rossendale saw Bolton on the back foot, and needing some big tackling from Noah Green wood, Liam Worswick, Louis Ramm and Callum Purnell. Bolton managed to grab another try against the run of play through Callum Purnell.
More unforced errors from Bolton handed the game to Rossendale who capitalised on some poor discipline, and questionable refereeing decisions (me!) scoring 3 tries without reply.
Final score 3 - 6.
A very good game of Rugby from both teams and 100% effort from all.
Special mention to Luke Parry and Noah Greenwood, who despite being the smallest players on the pitch put in some big tackles, picking up a few war wounds in the process.
Man of the match this week was Matthew Phillips.
