The under 11’s travelled to St Helens with 10 players in the pouring rain wondering whether the game would be still on. Fortunately West Park RFC are graced with excellent pitches and the game was on. If this game was to be played at Bolton it would never have started.
Bolton were able to borrow two players from the West Park big squad.
West Park RFC started the stronger against the much smaller away side. Scoring three tries almost immediately within the first 10 minutes. They converted all three.
Bolton clawed their way back into the game with some excellent place kicking by Zak Grundy.
West Park were stronger in the scrums due to their size and good ball at the rear of the scrums and open play was at a premium.
West Park scored again which they again converted.
Just prior to half time Ben Turner chased a kick towards the West Park touch line which he was adjudged to put downward pressure on the ball and score prior to it going out of play.
At half time it was four converted tries to one to the home side.
The second half was much better from the away side. Bolton had more possession but were unable to convert it into points.
The final score remained 28 v 7 to the home side.
Zak Grundy collected the player of the match trophy for his tactical kicks.
