With a full quota of games at home, 4 in all, Bolton 4ths went for the early kick off, to make sue they got the how water from the showers.
The game was played out with much of the first half spent in mid-field, but Preston were the first to open the scoring, 0 - 5.
Just on the stroke of half time, and Steve Taylor takes a nice switch to put Bolton back in the game, 7 -5.
The second half opens and Bolton move ahead with a penalty, 10 - 5.
Then, a text book training move pays off. On the Bolton line, a missed fly-hack by Andy Jolly is picked up by Steve Taylor. To clear their lines, he puts a 'bomb' up high, and as it bounces near the half-way line, stand-off Mitch Dwyers, who has chased after it, volleys it into the Preston 22. He outpaces the Preston full-back, picks up the ball and scores. 17 - 5. Just like we'd been practicing. :-)
However, the game wasn't over yet, and Preston were rewarded from some good rucking when they crossed to score, 17 - 12.
But Bolton had the last say, with a good drive to the Preston line, where Andy Jolly forced his way over, 22 - 12.
