For nearly 20 minutes they kept Bolton pinned in their own half. But finally Bolton’s experience came to the fore as they gradually moved the game back down the pitch into the Colne 22.
Form continued pressure, skipper Keith Howie went over to open the scoring for the home side. Within minutes Mark Higgins had barged his way over from a play near the Colne line. But Colne were determined to make a game of it and pulled back a try just before half time.

The second half started with a bang, as Bolton scored 2 quick tries, the first from centre Jack Dickinson and then Higgins went over for his second. Howie added a further penalty.
