Rossendale 12 Bolton 32
Tries Parry, Picton x2, Didlock x2, Warburton
Conversions Howie
Bolton u18s headed off to Rossendale buoyed by recent results and determined to keep their good form going. Playing up the slope first half, the Bolton boys faced some strong running with Dale looking to start strongly but the boys in cherry and white met every assault with equal force and determination. With 10 minutes gone, Josh Parry took a short pass to dive over the line to open the scoring converted by Sam Howie. Rossendale were straight back on the offensive and following repeated infringements by the Bolton team, a tap penalty and crash ball gave Rossendale parity on the scoreboard. Bolton though started to get the upper hand and with the last play of the half, the irrepressible Lewis Picton outpaced the home defence to score in the corner to leave Bolton leading 12-7 at the break.
With the advantage of the slope and deteriorating conditions for the second half, Bolton were looking to continue where they had left off in the first half and a trademark bullocking score from Tom Didlock straight through the heart of the Dale defence set the tone for the second half. Bolton started to dominate every collision with the home side tiring under the constant pressure. Lewis Warburton spotted a gap in the defensive line to dart through for a fine individual score and whilst Dale responded with another try of their own, Bolton closed the game out with a further two powerful scores by Didlock and Picton to round off a fine team performance.
