Take a narrow win

13 players new and old turned up to play Heaton Moor. After a shaky start Bolton found themselves a try down within five minutes. Bolton rallied back quickly and some strong running from Sean Carragher and Lewis Picton pulled two tries back to restore a slim lead.

Heaton resorted to kick and rush rugby to alleviate the pressure, and scored two tries as Bolton panicked on the back foot.

A few words at half time about commitment to rucks and mauls and stronger scrummaging failed to stop the fourth try after the interval.

All seemed lost and the boys looked to be on their way home without any points. Up popped debutant Myles Garth and stormed down the field to shouts of "run Forest, run". Motivated by strong tackles from Lewis Picton, man of the match Tom Simpson, and some strong drives from the other new boy, Conah Mansfield, Bolton stormed back to score two tries from Jake Rimmer and Sean Carragher. With Bolton back in front and the clock ticking over into injury time, Heaton pressed hard and a last gasp drive was stopped by Tom Platt and the rest of his forwards. Jake Rimmer broke down the blind side, drilled the ball down the blind side for Myles Garth and James Sharples to chase and harass the full back. With no clear way back to the Bolton line, the referee blew for full time and Bolton had clawed back to win the day.

Well done boys, good to see a no quit attitude pay off.
