Having had 2 very close matches against Wigan last season, Bolton expected the tight opening against a big Wigan team. Bolton had all the territory, most of the possession but 10 minutes in found themselves 5pts down to a breakaway try but just before halftime Jack Good pounced on a loose ball near the Wigan tryline to level the scores, followed by Henry Ainscough nipping in to make it 10-5.
The second half was different with 6 replacements Bolton were able to exploit gaps in a slowing Wigan defence, Louis Ramm scored twice and Fafa Mandungumama & Evan Dare both added tries for a final score of 30-5.
