Under 14's Pre season friendly

Bolton hosted Oldham in this pre-season friendly. Oldham were depleted in numbers and only arrived with 12 players, but with Bolton's large squad this season we were able to play 15 a side.
It was decided to play 3 20 minute games so that substitutions could be made thus giving everyone a game and a chance to show their prowess.
Ably refereed by Neil Liles Bolton had the upper hand in the first 10 minutes with powerful number 8 Dan Southworth going in for a couple of tries. The tries were converted by Zak Grundy who must have spent the summer months practicing his kicking because he was certainly on form.
The sides were evened out in the second 10 minutes with Bolton lending Oldham their powerful back row of Morgan Skeels-caldwell, Dan Southworth and James Preston along with a second row player after their own second row pulled up with an injury prior to the game.
The game was well balanced at this juncture with Morgan Skeels-Caldwell scoring under the posts for Oldham.
In the remaining part of the game Ben Turner switched the point of play losing his defender at a scrum and went blind, and with fleet of hands from the backs Thomas Knight-Rigler went over in the corner.
James Evans put in the tackle of the game when he stopped marauding Dan Southworth just short of the line who at the time was playing for Oldham.
Bolton's game was later rounded off with Josh Grundy at full back taking on the Oldham back line down the left wing at pace. Nobody could catch even the Bolton players tried to follow to support but were left in his wake.
His brother Zak converted the try.
